Memorable Musical Moments

7 16 2010  Played a mini-concert at The Wild Burro Bookstore in Hot Springs, SD with the king of South Dakota swing fiddling Kenny Putnam and my old bandmate from Out of the Blue Band Jim Bingham.   We thoroughly amused ourselves and a sell out crowd of about 60 on a rather warm Friday evening.   Had a blast!

Special thanks to Laural Bidwell at The Wild Burro

Performed solo in July of 1999 at a fundraiser for Senator Tom Harkin in Des Moines.   I entertained a group of Democrats waiting to see and hear President Clinton.   It rained several times in an hour and then cleared off just in time for his speech.    They ran Bill's podium mike into my trusty little Peavey p.a. system so the damp Democrats could hear him.  It worked like a charm.  Thank you Hartley Peavey!

Let's not forget the friendly Republicans either.   The Frontier Fiddle Band has had the opportunity to play four times now for Representative Tom Latham's annual Appreciation Party on his back deck near Alexander,  Iowa.   I believe it rained half way through our performance on one of those occasions.  Here Tom and organizer Gwen Ecklund bask in the post concert glow of a rainbow after our 2001 performance.    That was cool.   Thanks Tom.

John Edwards is the real thing.   A singer, a sailor & a truck drivin' man.    We recorded three songs together:  Donegal Danny, an Irish folksong,  my tune Lonesome Fiddle, and another great folk tune called Fiddler's Green.

"Billy Buffalo Meets Dr. Jazz," a two man concert with the one and only Dartanyan Brown at the Blanden Museum in Fort Dodge.   A mixing of musical styles we experimented with while on the Iowa Arts Council Touring Arts Team.
