Hold My Hand on the 4th of July

1.  A little boy in a radio flyer,  waves a flag from the crowd

A mother with her newborn daughter,  looks and smiles so proud

Papa's standin' in the back and wonderin'....of he's got it made

And how long, is this, parade?

Hold my hand on the 4th of July,  when the fireworks are in the sky, and

Tell me I'm the man in all your dreams

Tell me that our kids someday will be proud of me in every way

Hope I get to know them 'fore I die.....

'Til then hold my hand on the 4th of July.

2.  Hear the band playin' in the wind, it's John Phillips Sousa again

The trumpets and the drums are all ablaze....

There'll be a little slide trombone,  and Jonny's on the saxophone

Stand up and clap when he plays....REPEAT CHORUS

3.  A soldier in a distant land,  with a rifle in his hand

Marches on through shifting sand and mud

In his coat there is a pocket,  with a little golden locket

Covered, in his, own blood....REPEAT CHORUS
